Yes, you can update existing documents, while still having access to both the old and new version of the document.

Updating an existing document

This process ensures that the document remains the single source of truth, preserving its revision history and facilitating efficient document management.

Web

1. Enter the project containing the document you want to update.


2. Navigate to the document.

3. Click the three vertical dots on the right hand side of the document, and select Update.

4. Find and select the updated version of the document, and say something about what has changed from the previous version of the document. Click Save.

5. The document has now been updated. The latest version of any document will always be shown when opening a document. To view older versions of documents in Fonn web, click here.

Additionally, Fonn includes a built-in comparison tool that allows users to review differences between document versions and update only the modified pages while retaining the document’s version history.

iOS

Tracking and Filtering Document Updates

To list all drawings or documents uploaded or updated since a specific date:

  1. Open the project and navigate to the Documents section.

  2. Click on Filters.

  3. Set the Upload Date and/or Updated Date filter to be after your target date (e.g., [target date]).

  4. Review the filtered document list, which will display all drawings matching the criteria.

  5. Optionally, export the filtered document list for a comprehensive overview. This feature helps you quickly identify recent updates and ensures you are working with the most current documents.

Viewing older versions of updated documents

When uploading a new version, include a clear revision title or identifier, the revision date, and a brief description of the changes. This practice ensures clarity and facilitates collaboration among team members.

1. Go to the document

2. On the right side you will see Versions X.

1. Open the document

2. Tap the orange arrow in the bottom right. This is also where you see comments on the newest version.
